Located in San Simeon, The Hearst Visitor Center was a remodel and upgrade of the main visitor’s center, restaurant and gift shops. An observation deck on the east end of the complex offers a wonderful vantage point from which to view Hearst Castle on the crown of the mountain 1,600 feet above the Center.
There are two older historical storage warehouse buildings along the shoreline of San Simeon bay that were used to house artwork, furnishings and other building materials headed for Hearst Castle and other William Randolph Hearst holdings. The buildings have been remodeled and upgraded with newer board and batten wood siding and corrugated metal roofs. The northernmost warehouse along the shoreline is currently being used by Hearst Ranch Winery for wine tastings and a gift shop.
