Saxum Vineyards Equipment Barn

Saxum Vineyards Equipment Barn

The Saxum Vineyard Equipment Barn is located in the Templeton Gap area of West Paso Robles. This simple agricultural storage structure rests at the toes of the 50 acre James Berry Vineyard. Designed as a simple pole barn the structure is built using reclaimed oil field drill stem pipe. The primary function of the barn is to provide an armature for a photovoltaic roof system as well as to provide covered storage for farming vehicles, and livestock supplies.

Weathering corrugated perforated steel panels provide shading and filtered privacy to the equipment bays, and barn doors are clad in weathered steel cutoffs that were saved for reuse from the adjacent winery

This project received a design award from The American Institute of Steel Construction for it’s innovative design in engineering and architecture with structural steel.
